Au Revoir!!!

Tonight I leave for PARIS! I am in a kind of travelers denial and don’t really believe I’m going there (i.e. I have yet to pack) but I bet once I’m on the plane I will be overwhelmed with excitement. Although many people lauded renting an apartment for our trip, we decided to stay in a centrally located hotel with a reputable concierge service since we are new to the city and might need some help. However, when we go back for a second visit (because I am 99% sure I’ll want to) I will be renting an apartment from the gorgeous selection available through Haven in Paris. Just look at these amazing places- what a spectacular way to experience Parisian life!

I have Marni from Style Carrot guest blogging on Friday to keep you somewhat busy, but hope you’ll tune back in on Tuesday morning for what will be the first of several Paris posts I’m sure! My camera battery is charging as I type and I hope to give you a great tour of Paris through my eyes!

Au revoir, dear readers!

My perfect Parisian bedroom- the herringbone floors, the amazing trim work and the simple decor.

  1. Have a wonderful time…if you have time for a day trip, head to Giverney to see Monet's house and Garden (not only beautiful garden, but amazing french cottage) and Chartres to see the most amazing Gothic cathedral….

  2. J'espère que vous avez un temps merveilleux. dire bonjour à paris pour moi. Puis-je adapter dans votre valise?

[i hope you have a wonderful time. say hello to paris for me. can i fit in your suitcase?!]

  3. You are going to literally fall in love with Paris. I promise! Go browse (English) books at Shakespeare & Co., one of my favorite things to do. For a casual delish dinner, eat at Au Vieux Comptior (, in the 1st Arr.) – everything on the menu is amazing – make a reservation! For a romantic, fancier dinner out, eat at Le Caveau de Palais on Place Dauphine on the Ile de la Cite – a beautiful, quiet spot in the middle of Paris, and you won't regret it (but you will if you don't make a reservation). And of course shop shop shop!!

Have so much fun! I was just there in May and want to go back now! Tell Paris salut from me!

  4. Have a wonderful time. I were there last month with my husband and children. What a fabulous place to walk around, absorb the textures and eat. Eat, eat, eat.
    Have a great time.

  5. You are going to have the best time EVER!!!! Drink lots of champagne and have a nutella/banana crepe, highly recommended! Paris is my favorite place on earth!!! I'm so jealous!! Can't wait to live through your photos! :) xxx

  6. and I leave for Boston!! (not nearly as chic). have a relaxing, romantic, and inspiring vacation….

  7. Have an amazing trip! Pairs is one of my all time favorite cities.

I agree with getting an apartment, but for your first trip a hotel will be helpful!

  8. I am very jealous. The last time I was in Paris was in college. I hope you had a wonderful trip. I love your images. I am looking forward to your post when you return. Safe travels.

  9. There are tons of wonderful suggestions in the Barefoot Contessa Paris cookbook for everything from dinner places to the best french bread in Paris. Ina Garten also covers her favorite local linen places, florists…you name it! My husband and I pracctically used it as our exclusive guide when we went.

You should also chech out the NY Times 36 hours in…guides that are available online. They have done a few on Paris and there suggestions will get you out of a typical tour guide itinerary.

  10. Bon Voyage!

When we went to Paris this past June
we rented an apartment in the inner city.
I am glad we did (it rained a couple of days)
and with kids, it's just so much easier.

Have great trip and enjoy the city of love!

  11. Oh and I forgot to mention that the link to the rentals in Paris makes me want to go for an extended time. Do I have to come back?

  12. I would die to stay in any of those Paris apartments! Have such a great time and cannot wait to read your posts and see your pictures upon your return.

  13. Hi Erin! Have a great time on your trip. If you love your hotel, can you let us know? I am planning my trip and would looove not to have to do any research. hahaa
