Fashion Friday: Shorts Story

I have such a love/hate relationship with shorts. They can be so cute when done right but so very wrong when done poorly.  And there is nothing less flatterning that riding in a car/sitting in a restaurant in short shorts- ugh, the most uncomfortable/ unflattering thing ever, no?

But I do love them (when I get a good faux tan glow on the legs). So here are three outfits pulled together for inspiration: one for day, one that’s totally transitional for daytime into night time and one that is fiercely sexy for a night out.

  1. Very cool. Even though I never had an issue with my legs, I always felt awkward in shorts the older I became. These are very cute options !

  2. Great job! Perfect combinations. Accessories can help detract from the shorts if you feel uncomfortable about wearing them.

  3. I love all three of these looks!! So cute. Even the romper – that would be the only type of one I’d wear, it looks so sexy paired w the pink accessories!

  4. So cute!! You have inspired me to get a spray tan and test drive a shorts-based outfit this weekend. Oh but how I do know the anxiety of sitting in short shorts…spin class, then spray tan, THEN shorts.

  5. Awesome post!

I am literally Dying over… well all of it! I’ll take the straw wicker clutch and the Cargo black playsuit please!

    Have a fantabulous weekend!

  6. Yes Mom, it’s a ROMPER. I could not wear it though thanks to the freakishly long torso you blessed me with. :)

  7. Damn! These outfits almost make me excited about the sweltering heat! You outdid yourself here. Not only did I love all three, but I seriously loved each piece in each outfit. The first’s shorts, the second’s bag, and the last’s bra are all so spot-on that I can’t even handle it.

  8. I love the outfits you put together. Great ideas! I’m not a very fashion-y person, but yours is the first blog I read in the morning. Keep up the good work. Love your enthusiasm!

  9. Lancome Flash Bronzer is my ALL time favorite in the faux tanning category. It’s the only one that I’ve found that doesn’t make me want to gag at the smell of myself once I put it on. Well worth the additional $$ to upgrade from the drugstore brands.

  10. Love these outfits. I’d love to see more of these, such great inspiration, I have no creativity when it comes to my wardrobe.

  11. I totally avoid shorts! Never wear them…really! However, your skill at pulling these outtits together has kinda changed my mind. They are adorable.

Have a great weekend wearing your shorts!

  12. When we were in Kennebunkport last weekend eating dinner outside I saw a woman wearing something very similar to that sexy silk number. She had the perfect body for it, but looked like she was freezing her ass off!

  13. thanks for posting the sites for the items! I really love your blog, just so you know:)

  14. I actually wore a brown silk sleeveless romper on friday night with some wedges and it was so comfortable. My only complaint is that for someone who uses the ladies room as much as i do, it can be a bit of a hassle. But it’s rare to feel really comfortable and stylish at the same time.

  15. I love everything about these looks! I love that chunky cardigan so much..I just wish it wasn’t so expensive. Your blog is so great by the way :)

  16. I like how you are listing the items in your inspiration posts. So helpful and easy to access. Thanks! Oh, and I love the outfits too! Really enjoyed your post about meeting with JA. What a thrill that must have been.

  17. I would love to see a Maternity Fashion Friday! It’s so difficult to find good looking maternity clothes!
