Fashion Friday: The Maxi

I am DYING to find a fabulous maxi skirt for spring. I love the swishy, bohemian feeling of a long swatch of fabric dancing around my ankles on a warm day. It’s so comfortable yet glamorous and cool. But I feel like people aren’t quite sure how to rock them. So here are two examples of the maxi- one dressed up (a summer wedding perhaps) and one dressed down (a sunny day shopping).

Here’s a great look using a cheery combo of yellow and turquoise with a sexy side slit maxi:

And here’s a feminine but funky daytime look paired with gladiators!

  1. I saw a *gorgeous* navy blue vintage maxi with white graphic print on the bottom at The Velvet Fly on Parmenter Street in Boston. It would look amazing on someone tall with a confident sense of style …

  2. I love the color palettes you’ve chosen. I’ve been lusting after that yellow Tibi cami for a few weeks now and I never thought to pair it with turquoise. I always love your perspective on thing!

  3. Here’s a question: where should they fall?? I’m 5’9″ so I aways feel like I’m wearing high waters. And with heels?? Forget about it. What’s an acceptable length??

  4. love both the outfits but the first color comination is so unique and striking! lovely post, erin..have a beautiful visit my blog when you have a moment xx meenal

  5. loves!!!!! i was just shopping today and bought a shorter bohemian inspired dress–hoping that the weather will soon be warm (it has been freezing and raining here in Washington State even though it is Spring) so that I can wear it with my silver sandals.

  6. Love, love, love the outfits – esp the first. Now, do one for me. (ha!) I’m invited to a black tie Hampton wedding “in the vineyard.” What on earth will I wear?! :-)
