A Few Random Faves

Just wanted to put some of my current favorite things out there for you all.  I always love to hear about what people are loving at any given moment so why not add my own to that?

For years and years I used a crappy curling iron bought  at CVS on a whim and never thought twice about actually buying a new one. Until mine broke and I actually began looking into new ones that didn’t have the clip that I never use (I actually unscrewed the one off my Conair!)  Enter the Sultra Bombshell. About $100 more than my old one, this was quite a big price difference to swallow but MAN was it worth it. I love this thing, somehow it actually makes my hair feel healthier AND my curls last for DAYS.

I first heard about Chantecaille’s Future Skin Foundation through Kyle Knight during a trip to NYC together, but then was so kindly sent a jar by the folks at Neiman Marcus to try and it’s fabulous! So light and natural looking and hell, if Jennifer Aniston uses it, it’s good enough for me! They also sent along their Brilliant Gloss which is now a constant in my purse (I actually move it from purse to purse, so you know it’s good).  I was actually shopping with a client who pulled the exact one I had out of her purse and we both were blabbing about how great it is because it’s not sticky and actually moisturizes.

I told you this was random so I’m about to jump from foundation and gloss to chips. Yes, chips. To me pita chips and hummus is like crack. I can easily make a meal out of it and some wine, and often do when left alone.  But Andrew came home the other day with a bag of Food Should Taste Good Olive Chips and I am now a convert. I thought that since they are all natural and gluten free they would suck and the packaging was SO good I figured they must be overcompensating for said suckiness….but NO! SOOOOO freakin’ delish! New fave.

All my friends with pretty skin have sworn by using a Clarisonic.  I resisted for a long time until last month when I sucked it up and bought one to see what the hype is all about and I’m happy to report it’s all true. My skin has never felt cleaner and smoother and I’ve only been using it a few weeks.

I have a think about t-shirts and needing them to be the most perfect fit. Long, but not too long, fitted but not skin tight, lightweight but not see through. Enter the J.Crew Painters Tee . I am in LOVE with the fit of this long sleeve number and am going to order a bunch for fall layering. So perfect. (The stripe version rocks too)

Ia m all about brushed brass hardware and accents right now.  Simply obsessed. So when I saw this set of three mirrors on, of all places, Home Decorator’s Collection, I flipped. So fabulous and under $150 for all three??

I am totally focused on this navy Coach classics bucket bag for fall. My mom carried this very bag when I was growing up and I love that it’s back in this deep navy (which is the “new grey” which was the “new black”- try to keep up). Any Coach peeps out there who can help me find one? Pretty please? :)

Speaking of navy, if I could I would paint everything and it’s mother Farrow & Ball Hague Blue in a high gloss finish. I mean EVERYTHING. It is a truly gasp-inducing color in person, I can tell you that. I cannot get enough.

This look could not be more perfect. So classic, a little sexy and simple!!! This is how I want to look (Charlize’s genetics would help too).

  1. I love reading about others “favorites” or “must haves.” I eat hummus just about in a daily basis so I definitely want to try those chips. I have heard great things about the Clarisonic as well. I may have to take the plunge.

  2. This blog makes me shop shop shop! Erin, your editorial is more influential than most of the magazines I read. Do a reader survey and charge your advertisers more!

  3. Now I wish I could take the rest of the day off and go buy everything on your list that I don’t already have. I do LOVE the Food Should Taste Good chips! The jalepeno chips are my favorite. Perfect for Mexican night. I wish everything GF tasted that good…

  4. Thanks for sharing your favorite things! I just have a question though, I have been wanting to try a curling iron without a clamp for some time now, but how do you use it without burning your finger tips?? I would love to know if there is a trick!

  5. I’ve had long time crush on that Coach bag too. I always liked the thick leather look of Coach it makes it look like a classic piece vs. a trendy piece.

  6. I had a neon coral v-neck painters tee that was my FAV and on my last trip i spilt red wine on it. i was afraid it was discontinued but i’m so glad to see it’s not! also- is the clarisonic at all abrasive if you use a rougher cleanser?

  7. Those are some great finds! I have been wanting to try the clarisonic, I think I need to purchase one along with the j-crew painters tee’s and the farrow and ball paint is gorgeous!

  8. That Coach bag is for sale on net-a-porter.com. Love the navy!
Love this post – thanks for posting about the clarisonic. I’d seen it on the Goop newsletter and was excited to see your review of it, too.

  9. Which clarisonic would you recommend? There seem to be a couple types on the site. As well, which brush would recommend? I’m so excited about this product! I really liked this post. Thanks!

  10. Love reading about your favs! I have the curling iron and the chips. My current random favs are: the blue crab dip from Costco, OPI bubble bath nail polish, Trader Joe’s honey sesame covered almonds, my Rebecca Minkoff morning after clutch/cross body bag, Relax with Andrew Johnson Lite app (I fall asleep in 5 min or less to this app, it’s crazy how well it works.

  11. I have to say that J Crew Painters Shirt is nice, but if anyone here is looking for the EXACT same thing but less costly go over to Kohl’s. They have Pretty much the same exact description of fit for a long-sleeved shirt by Croft&Barrow. You may be resistant since this brand advertises to more “mature” audiences but I found it on a good buy ($12 on a Saturday sale and 15% coupon via their website) and they come in every colour.

    Just a mere suggestion.

  12. Love that curling iron! I couldn’t splurge on the $130 one, so I bought the Remington Wand from Target ($24), works great! Those chips look great!
Just found your blog a few weeks ago – love reading it!

  13. I love your list of favorites! This will sound unusual but Food Should Taste Good also has Chocolate chips! The taste of chocolate is very subtle and I wouldn’t be able to snack on them all the time, but it’s a fun chip flavor to include if you have a variety on the table. :)

  14. Thanks for sharing :) I prefer clipless curling irons are so much better and a lot easier to use. I bought at safrons a great one, it’s the Karmin Salon Pro Clipless tourmaline curling Iron, ceramic and tourmaline technology leave hair smooth, shiny and full of bounce, and avoid hair damages.

  15. just saw a navy Coach bucket bag on ebay for $387.50 if that’s in your budget….ebay is my addiction!

  16. I lurrrve the J.Crew painters tees…own three meself :):) And most of the fall line too…yes, I am broke..

  17. The Clarisonic did not work for me. I must say that I am older and the one thing I must be careful not to do is pull my skin at all. The Clarisonic did pull on my skin. I know it has worked well for so many others but I feel obligated to say maybe not for everybody. I also got one when they were very new, almost beta. Maybe they’ve improved. Thanks for sharing.

  18. #1. My mom also has said coach bag. but in red. I guess who didnt, right?

#2. I use the Chantecaille FF in Alabaster and I LURVE it. I love that its gel based vs oil based and it makes me feel better about myself. Must try lipgloss. What colors are good?

#3. I, too, could paint all things navy. Maybe its the beach girl in me…. no, must be the equestrienne, either way Im done for with navy. I have only had the cahones to do a navy laquer french door thus far, but am toiling with doing my small hallway bathroom in it (and doing an all out maculine theme).

guuurl, i like the wavelength you’re on!

  19. I had a dream the other night that I painted our living room navy! Love Charlize’s look here btw. Claire from StylishIrish

  20. PS: great to know I’m not alone on the making a meal out of chips and dip thing when left to my own devices!

  21. i got the clairisonic for mothers day last year and love it! i only use at night and have used with many different cleansers – i find the creamier the cleanser, (like cetaphil) the better the brush glides over your face. i have roseacea and it has really improved my texture and not at all irritating. my skin just feels brighter – be consistent with it – i just got the regular one. love the navy bag – feels very ’80’s’ – but in a more modern way.

  22. Charlize is gorgeous but you don’t need to ask for anyone else’s genetics, girl! ;)
Also, the curling iron is on my list now… my curling iron is a POS.
