My Xmas Wishlist & Wrapping Style

Thank you so much for all your kind words about my home yesterday! Sorry for the server issues too, hopefully everything is/ will be ironed out soon. Now that gift guides are over, I thought I’d post what I’m eying this season.  Of course in reality my list read more like this: my reproductive system to get it’s shit together already, funding for my husband’s start-up, some nice strong lasers pointed at my sun damaged face, a solidified second book deal, the ability to save all the sad puppies in shelters and of course, world peace (cue Miss America wave). But alas, Santa may have some trouble with those.  So here are some fun material things I’d love to see under the tree!

But Santa, seriously, it’s all about lasers.

1. I love this Calypso bikini– especially since Andrew and I are finally treating ourselves to a getaway in January to Round Hill in Jamaica! Also wouldn’t mind this and a woven straw hat too. :)

2. Now that you’ve seen my new master bedroom, you know why I’d LOVE a new set of Matouk sheets for my beautiful bed.  They really are amazing.

3.  I love the regular version of Hermes Jour D’Hermes, but this new version smells a little richer for winter.

4. Some new design books- specifically Country by Jasper Conran and Jean Louis- Deniot’s book.

5. Crisp new jammies for all that “long winter’s night” snuggling in said new bedroom binge watching The Good Wife (seriously, why I have I not been watching this show??)

6. I would love a pair of framed intaglios for my dining room. Since I moved my vintage arrow sconces to the master I have two blank spots in there that need filling! These are also amazing.

7. I’d love a new floor lamp for my living room to replace the IKEA one I bought on whim years ago.  This one is also a favorite.

8. I have the most horrendous blender and yet love making smoothies for breakfast. As much as I want a Vitamix, I can’t get past the price point. The Nutri Ninja has really good reviews, so I think this would do just fine for my needs!

9. I got a pair of tan suede Tory flats with a crystal bow two years ago and have worn them into the ground. This is the snazzy new updated version. I may have already ordered them for myself. MAYBE. I totally did.

10. A BABY PYGMY GOAT!!!!! Always!  I mean, can you not watch this video and totally melt from the cuteness??? Someday, I swear to all things holy, I will have a baby goat and his name will be Spencer. Or Ralph. Or Charlie. Not that I’ve thought about it or anything.

11. No goat? Okay fine, I’ll take this heavenly smelling body balm.

12. I have had my iPhone 6 for a couple months and still no case. It’s time. This striped one by Note to Self reminds me of my fave tees.

13. I have some ginormous Sorel snow boots that feel like I’m wearing two casts on my legs- so I never wear them.  After I donate the to someone in need, I’d like to replace them with these easier to walk in boots that are so chic with their black laces!

** I forgot to label the little cosmetic under the perfume- this is Tata Harper’s new Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint I’ve heard is fabulous- plus non-toxic :)

I managed to finish ALL my wrapping a couple days ago and am pretty happy with how it came out. I like to stick to a theme (last year’s was black, white and green) and this year I went with a more “country chic” neutral route using Container Store’s burlap wrap, a kraft paper polka dot and solid black paper mixed with woven black and white ribbons and topped with these AMAZING black and white landscape gift tags I found on Etsy by an Australian seller Freeasabyrd.

Do you wrap in themes? What’s on YOUR wishlist this year?

  1. I’m obsessing over Sorels, too! I have the Joan of Arctic which are very clunky so I’m gunning for the Tofinos this year. Much lighter. I like the style you posted, too. That’ll be on next year’s list. heehee

  2. The goat!! Yes please! But I’m thinking at least two, right? Everyone needs a friend….
This year I have started to wrap my gifts with plain brown paper and adding rustic ribbon and/or burlap.

  3. Love the wrapping. Yes, I wrap in themes also….confession, I also wrap empty boxes :). My husband doesn’t get it. My husband and I are renovating an 80yr. old house, so I have a lot on my wishlist. For now though I’d love some Tory Reva’s and some new sheets. I’ll have to check out those you have on your wish list.

  4. Love that baby goat … not so sure about the 4 am bottle feedings though. Your gift wrappings are lovely and will look so chic under the Christmas tree. I used to color match my gift wraps to the tree decorations (mostly gold and white and green of course) but now mostly shove stuff in gift bags. But I do assemble wonderful gift baskets full of chocolates and coffee and homemade pumpkin bread and other yummies so I’m not a COMPLETE slackard.
    Just a semi-slackard…

  5. Good Wife! I too have recently learned the error of my ways, and have watched every episode in three weeks. It’s back in January!

  6. My wish list is all home-related this year. In fact, my husband and I are only exchanging stockings this year and we have a price limit, because we’re about to pull the trigger on couches, chairs, an area rug, and a coffee table..OY. Just as soon as I make up my mind what I want! Happy Holidays Erin, I know someday your pygmy goat dreams will be a reality!

  7. Goats are for real the best. We had two pygmies- a black one named Rambo and white one named Daisy. Hope you get em

    Love the flats!!

Ps is The hubs’ startup on angel list?

  8. Erin,

Have you seen Brooke’s (from Velvet and Linen) Pygmy goats. She has 3. So cute!

As for wrapping, I wrap in themes too. Every year is different. This year’s theme is hodgepodge. I’m taking the lazy way out and using all of the leftover wrapping paper from previous years.

    1. Question on the sheets…they’re 200 thread count and 50% polyester. Have you felt them in person? In the market for some new ones and just curious!

  9. There’s a store near my neighborhood that sells only wrapping paper. I have no idea how they stay in business but I will figure out my theme once I stop by.

They sell handmade paper in sheets and some rolls of “regular” paper.

I must try the Hermès perfume. I’m a big fan of Un Jardin du Nil, so I wonder how this scent will be on my skin.

I hope Santa brings you some goats.

  10. Just got a new Vitamix 750 on the first of this month and it’s worth every penny. I said the same thing for over a year about the price and decided to take the plunge. Glad I did, love it. Comes with a huge hardcover cookbook as well.
Ordered the Fireburst earrings from J Crew you mentioned. They sent a necklace by mistake. Hate that. And from Nordstrom, Topshop, a sheer pleated high neck blouse and Topshop itself a shaggy faux fur cream cardigan. Oh, and Tom Ford private blend Jasmin Rouge. Heaven.

  11. Love all of your choices Erin, my favorite are the luxurious sheets to slip into, which is the best way to end the day after a nice glass of wine!

    The Arts by Karena

  12. Love your list Erin. Especially the goat. We actually had one when we were little. His name was Pepe’ and my mom let him in the house but only with diapers on. Too funny.

Also, reveal yesterday of your home is stunning. Love everything!

  13. I always wrap in themes!!! And I spend waaay too much money & time at Paper Source prepping for the upcoming holiday season:) It’s the best!! Love your selection & theme!

  14. I’ve been wondering about the Ninja, too. It’s hard to get past all the ZOMG – Vitamix out there, but seriously, that thing is HUGE! Consumer Reports says Ninja is where it’s at. ;)

  15. Love the blog, Erin!! Maybe I need some midday coffee, but is there a description for what looks to be a very awesome lip balm? Maybe I just can’t read…ha. Hope you can help! :)

  16. We are on the save Christmas list wavelength, my dear! Hermes fragrance – yes! Jasper Conran’s book – think the hubs just picked it up! Pygmy goat – gah! Someday, my friend. A couple of those, some chickens, and a donkey;) (on a quaint English farm, of course) Wrap’em up!

Hope you get to check those off your list:)

  17. Erin, don’t hate me because I’m a grammar freak, but it’s ‘its shit together’, not ‘it’s shit together’. Possessive, not a contraction.
    You are welcome :)
    P.S. Love the baby goat!

  18. Love the packaging. Hope the wrapping paper I sent (and designed) comes in handy. And thanks for the inspiration.

  19. I just came across that video of Benjamin the Goat on HuffPost. After I freaked over the cuteness, I came right here to link the video for you. I was so happy (and not at all surprised!) to see that you’re a step ahead of me.

But the question is: how do we keep them so tiny?!? You could literally never have a bad day if Ralph (my vote) hopped around your bedroom every morning.

  20. I’ve got the flats in both silver/black direct from TB and then also in burgundy from Saks. LOVE THEM! I really want the tan/pink ones from a few years ago, that would complete my flat shoe collection!

  21. Love your list and pinned away!!! I do wrap in a theme, but I ALWAYS have a black and white awning stripe as my base, it is my signature wrap. This year I did a woodland snow theme on my mantel so the packages are wrapped in the stripe, a faux bois, and a silver irridescent snowflake pattern, and a blue with silver stripe,. I always do a theme, last year was the stripe with blue and green paper. Wrapping is one of my favorite things to do at the Holidays!!

  22. Get the Vitamix – it’s totally worth the cost. I use mine everyday – smoothies to soups to pesto and everything in between (I use it whenever a recipe calls for a food processor). Plus clean up is so freakin’ easy – that may have been what sold me on it in the first place.

  23. Your list looks thoughtful and full of good things- except for the goat. They are herd animals and you would need more than one. Happy Holidays.

  24. Ahem…you will have to “stand in line behind me” to get a Pygmy Goat. I’ve seen that video…SOLD! This year will be brown kraft paper with dark brown and linen satin ribbons with pine cones and hemlock (I can’t help myself….some of the pine cones will be “gilded.”) franki

  25. I definitely recommend the Ninja! The Nutri Ninja with Auto IQ is AMAZING. I may be a little biased because I work for the company… but honestly, they’re great products!

  26. This is my 1st visit to your blog. I’m already in LOVE!

You are my “Good Wife”, I can’t believe how late I am to the EOS party.

Anyhoooo. Girl!!! Buy the vitamix. Forget the nutrabullet! I’ve already gone down this road. There is no comparison with how well the vitamix blends and mixes. It’s not a one hit wonder. You can literally make soups and ice cream/gelato in one as well.

Don’t gag, but check out QVC they may have a few with an easy pay option.

If you’ve spent $500 on a cell phone then buy the vitamix. It will change your life
