Last night Andrew and I were in New York for a fun event and with the weather dropping into the single digits figuring out what to wear was tough. I decided that wearing a dress would just be too cold so I opted for a menswear look inspired based on this amazing Veronica Beard blazer. I have always loved a white and black tux jacket, and after owning an affordable version (J.Lo for Kohls, for real) I decided to pony up and get a perfectly tailored one. I was loving the jacket with jeans but was worried it was a smidge too casual…
So I decided that leather leggings were more appropriate for this event, and so I popped on my most favorite (and only) pair from Helmut Lang. These pants are so expensive, but they were worth every penny. I wear them ALL winter long, and have for the past three years- and they still haven’t stretched out beyond belief! The cost per wear on these, the most expensive pants I own, is less than many of my J.Crew pairs I have worn twice. It was a lesson to myself about spending well once instead of stupidly two or three times on trendier stuff. I loved this sleek, comfortable and warm look. The sparkly chandeliers and high pumps adding a dash of feminine and the clutch adding a pop of pattern. Sorry for the bad picture, I gotta up my game.

We stayed at The Marlton Hotel, which I’ve blogged about before and LOVED.
The rooms are so tiny, but SO perfect.
Again, tiny bathroom, but so perfectly outfitted with brass Waterworks fixtures and marble. And the bathtub was HUGE!
Every detail is perfect, right down to the pad of note paper.
A little bit of Paris in New York.
I love these sconces, reminds me of the new Nickey Kehoe for Urban Electric hand sconces.
Happy weekend, and to my fellow Bostonians- hang in there with this mind-blowingly awful storm system heading our way! And happy Valentines Day!
