Last week I zipped down to NYC for a night and got to do some cool stuff.
Like get a tour of the Duralee design studio where they come up with the prints and wovens that we use in our work all the time! I can’t show you a lot of what I saw (sneak previews of some fun new lines) but it was so interesting!
I love that a lot of the creative work isn’t on the computer- concepts for new collections begin as inspiration boards on the walls of the studio- from pictures of fashion to scraps of historical prints…
The amount of work that goes into a single collection is astounding! This is a new collection coming out soon and they in the process of culling the many choices…
This one, a Bailey & Griffin print, was a combination of a historical print but redone in scale and color and then combined with a graphic backround. I LOVE IT.
Then that night I went to the DIFFA Dining By Design cocktail reception to see all the fun tables designed by various designers. This one was my favorite- love the chandelier by Arteriors and the fun chairs by Celerie Kemble for Henredon.
Some of the other tables (and pardon the quality of the photos- the lighting was SO tricky in there!)
The craziest table by far. :)
I got to stay at the new Viceroy and it was wonderful! The location was perfect and the rooms super comfy. And the windows…. pure awesome.
And the bathrooms were fab, another hotel that has embraced brass!!!
Check out the bathroom in the super fancy suite. :) AMAZING.
What a great trip and break from the snow!!
Love those French black grids on those windows! Adore!
So fun!
I went to the Viceroy in Anguilla & it was AMAZING. You and the hubbs should plan a get away there. Trust me.
how fun! i can only dream of attending of those design events one day. those celerie kemble for henredon chairs are so interesting!
I love those monster-sized table lamps on blocks!
Even with NYC beckoning outside the door, I would find it difficult to leave those beautiful rooms.
I experienced a new kind of feeling while going through your blog. It is really amazing and feel like the illustrations itself have a lot to say. Wonderful!
THAT HORSE….THAT BRASS….pure CLASS!!! franki
I have that same leopard print Gucci coat ad torn out from a magazine. I went to find out how much it was and it was something like $23,000! I think you could probably buy an actual leopard for that much.
