Making Old New & Tag Sale!

As I’ve mentioned before, I love using antiques in almost every project I do because it adds so much life and patina to a space unlike anything else. And while flea markets and antique fairs are fun, they are a lot of work and time. We love to use 1st Dibs, Etsy and Ebay to source from our desks, but there are two other sites that sell not only vintage items but also gently used designer items that you can have for a fraction of the retail price.

The first is Viyet. I met one of the founders in Los Angeles while doing a panel discussion and she was so lovely. The premise to this site is for designers and owners of high-end furniture to be able to consign pieces they don’t want, need to sell, etc. Also showrooms sell some of their floor models on here, which is fabulous! You can shop by showroom here.

Chairish is another site we use, which has lots of great vintage and used furniture and accents including items from a lot of great Etsy sellers. The prices tend to be lower and the selection quite large!

  1. Oh, if only I lived closer!! This is the tag sale of my dreams. I fear shipping costs would offset the great prices I’m sure you’ll have no problem selling any of these–beautiful!!

  2. Thank you so much for this post! I hadn’t heard of either of those sites before now.

Are you selling the wedding blanket in your guest room?

  3. Great post. I have a request, if you are taking them. I am moving into a Victorian rowhouse in DC in a few weeks, which has all the original character preserved (fireplaces, moldings, pine floors, stairway, pocket doors, etc. ). I would love to see a post with inspiration images for this style of home and some recommendations for furnishings. We want to be true to the style of the home, but also not look old fashioned and we have small kids, so want to keep it simple. You have a great eye for this stuff!

  4. I couldn’t connect on some of the items in the first group (link down?). I’m drooling over that zebra ottoman (assuming that’s a print and not an actual zebra). And love that tufted linen chair, perfect! But I live in Seattle so I can’t just load that puppy into the SUV and drive off into the sunset chortling with glee.
While I don’t envy Bostonians that dreadful winter they suffered through, I do lust after your personal tag sales and special events (like that tea party with India Hicks tomorrow!). She ought to be able to give you tips on raising boys; she has four!

  5. And I do hope you’ll do a post about your tea party afterwards. I’ll have tea and biscuits here in Seattle as I read it

    1. Are you interested in selling the bedding ( minus the monogrammed shams :-)) in the guest room?

  6. As the links are not working at the moment, this comment will provide all the links to the products displayed in the Viyet portion of the article.
