I’ve been feeling a little less than inspired by spreads in my shelter magazines lately and even on Pinterest. Have you? I crave some more interesting spaces with personality and a unique flair- not just “pretty” spaces. Sometimes even those that are not my personal style can inspire creative thinking and to take some design risks.
I saw this home on Atlanta Home website and thought it was just one of those spaces. The historic Greek Revival home, called Honeymoon, was built in 1831 and has been lovingly renovated by design showroom owner James Stanton and his partner. There is nothing like a good ol’ grand Southern mansion….
I die over the original door knocker.
I love the blue of this entry (trim and ceilings all the same) and the two prints on the wall….
You can see how the color changes in the light here and how the bolder color shows off the antiques and period details on the stairs.
This moody den is also cool, again with the ceilings painted the same color as the walls- something I’d only do in a room with high ceilings.
In another living space the mood is lighter, but a dramatic green sofa and modern rug. It’s not exactly my person style, but I do like the mix.
I do however, love the mix of antiques and modern decor in this home.
I just posted this wallpaper last week when discussing grisaille, and here is an example of it in the dining room. I love the painted trim and ceiling- and that gold mirror.
This kitchen feels a little too dark for me personally. I may have done just the cabinets in the grey and something lighter up top.
More fun use of wallpaper in a powder room. Again, not something I’d pick but certainly a funky and cool application.
I do like this space- the Currey & Co. chandelier, the light blue walls and four poster bed. This space feels pretty unique and the mix of dark brown and blue feels interesting.
I LOVE these adorable twin beds.
A pretty vignette, again a mix of dark tones and lighter blues, showcasing a fun lamp by Aerin for Visual Comfort.
The relaxing pool.
The old maid’s quarters that the couple have set their sights on renovating next!
Some picks from Stanton Home Furnishings, some right from this house!
