I was at CVS the other day and spotted this cover of Country Living and had to pick it up because that room? Hello, totally right up my alley. Country Living isn’t a mag I subscribe to, but now that I’m using Texture, I’m going to be looking at it every month! There were some great things in this issue, but mostly this house! It’s like Chip & Joanna Gaines total dream home. :) I think Fixer Upper has turned us all into a bit of a country fan, no?
I die for those beams and the overall warm scheme- the layered rugs, the giant basket (which I FOUND- see my “get the look” board below) and the abundance of white, which makes everything feel so warm and lived in.
Antiques + slipcovered white furniture + modern gold lighting = YEEEESSSSS
This is the first time I’ve seen a kitchen with cafe curtains and thought “that was a good idea”. It looks darling in here. Maybe it’s the shiplap. :)
MORE SHIPLAP! And proof that antiques in a tailored marble bathroom absolutely sing.
I love me a good grid artwork installation. Especially on top of (wait for it)….. SHIPLAP!
I adore this spindle bed for a little boy (already plotting Henry’s big boy room and he’s, what, 10 weeks old?) and really, really love the modern framing of children’s own artwork like this.
This nursery is darling (that rug makes me drool- we just did a similar pink overdye in a twin girls bedroom).
Here’s a way to get the look of this GORGEOUS house.

LOVE a tobacco basket! They’re especially cute with a boxwood wreath hung inside for the holidays. Country Living peaked my interest when they featured Bailey McCarthy’s second home and I’m now officially a fan. Great post!
Love waking up to your blog! This is a gorgeous home! Thanks for all of the links!
I love this! I don’t get the mag either but do follow them on instagram and they just posted that bathroom recently. It stopped me dead in my tracks! I love how it feels like more of a “room” than a standard bathroom. The antique cabinet is everything.
I waver lately on loving country style but agree that these spaces are incredible!! Thanks for the inspiring post.
Loooove this look although I’m normally not much for country at all. Shiplap is totally converting me. And that Lulie Wallace painting?? My dream!
Y’all come down and visit us here in Georgia! We’ve been using shiplap, tobacco baskets and cafe curtains for as long as I remember! Any southern home worth it’s cheddar grits has a few family antiques! Bless your heart!
I tell people all the time that I don’t like “country”, and yet I follow Country Living on instagram and regularly check out their pinterest boards. Go figure. Love this post, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing, Erin! I’m definitely going to start checking out Country Living!
The rugs from Etsy are amazing. Again and again you always remind me how great Etsy is and the variety of home decor you can find on that site!! Thanks!!
Seriously – who doesn’t want to be Joanna Gaines?!
I also bought that issue because of the cover, and loved the tobacco basket in particular. I have my auction fanatic friend on the lookout for one locally for our fireplace . I can’t believe how many people are bringing me drop cloths and white denim for slip covers lately. Thanks for all the sources for getting this look.
Great feature! The dog art prints in the little boy bedroom look like Rifle Paper Co. notecards = https://riflepaperco.com/shaggy-dog-greeting-card/ … They are adorable!
Love this home. The kitchen is so amazing

Have you seen the #shiplap tees on Joanna’s market website? I need one. Thanks for posting this home, I have seen the pics all over Pinterest, so I love the “how to create the look” board. Thanks!
Totally love this post and thanks for sharing. I love the antiques, ship lap, cozy bathroom. I totally swoon over the beams.
Love your commentary Erin, and eye for detail.
Love! Thanks for sharing the pics and picks! Also for introducing something I had never heard of- had to google who the gains were, glad to see they’re doing something on cable which might make my mom move on from the blue and yellow and nickel business she’s been pushing. If it is more shiplap though, I’m not sure I am on board, shiplap overload these last few months I tell ya!
You’re so cute with the tobacco basket! Girl, those things are all over the place in Tennessee. :)
Amen!
And Virginia!!! So pretty with greens at Christmas!
I have this issue and loved it. I’ll check out their instagram feed.
Erin? Is that you? Are you post partum? Chip and Joanna Gaines?
I am CRACKING UP at you!!!!!!
Check out Holly Mathis blog – and her shop – to die for. Her brother makes the metal signs for the Gaines. Love this house too – I used the pic with the gold lamp to show how to update a country/warm house for today.
Love it too!!!!!!
I have thrown away more tobacco baskets than I care to think about. My husband’s family owned and operated a huge tobacco farm in N.C. :)
Diane you can throw one away, my way all the way to Calif!!
We just moved to Franklin TN where this house is located and after seeing this spread I have decided I need to be best friends with her. ;)
The beams! The bathtub! The Swedish Mora clock! *swoon*
It is so pretty. It’s definitely not your normal style, but I can see why you like it! Maybe you need to get a weekend home! ;-)
This house is looking really amazing. I love the style.
Where would you find cafe curtains like the ones shown in bathroom?
I live in Kentucky and tobacco baskets are a plenty. Whenever I see someone use them to decorate it I kinda chuckle because they are so common here.
This is at least the third time you’ve claimed you NEVER look at Country Living (like it’s something to be ashamed of) and the third time you’re either going to subscribe to it, or start looking at it. It’s kind of amusing. Did you notice the photo on the cover is backwards?
I’ve been thinking lately that shiplap is done…over…kaput. It’s so overused and every DIY blog has done a tutorial on how to get the look. Almost as bad as chevron, moroccan poufs and Hicks pendants.
OH My Erin! You hit the nail on the head with this room, love it all. A tobacco basket has been on my wish list for some time now. I first discovered them a few years back on a trip to North Carolina and fell in love with the shapes and textures. I just might have to take the plunge and order one of these beauties, thanks for the heads up!!

See, this is what I struggle with. I love the coziness of a home with country elements, but I like the sophistication that the modern pieces bring in. I’m just not adept at making that mix, and I want my home to skew more sophisticated and cozy than country and cozy. This mix gets it right, and nothing is too precious, or making me feel like I should be driving home in a covered wagon. Thanks for this lovely posting.
Erin Gates, THANK YOU for finding the tobacco basket for me!!
