Favorite Fall Color

Fall is now officially here and I’m getting in the mood for cozier days ahead free of the chill of air-conditioning or muggy, sticky humidity! One of the colors I am SO jonesing for is sagey-grey-olivey-green. Kind of a complicated color that can go SO wrong if not the right tone, it’s both warm and cool and totally sophisticated. Look for green that have a nice dose of grey to them and pair them with gold, creams, charcoals, wood tones and leather. For colors that compliment try a birds egg blue or coral. :)

  1. This is gorgeous! I have been avoiding of sage since it got completely played out in the 90s, but these shades are so dreamy and chic! Thanks for the inspiration.

  2. I love this color because it’s cool but manages to bring in a warm, relaxed feeling at the same time. I think it’s very versatile.

  3. This is one of those colors like mustard that look so fabulous in the hands of a pro and like refrigerator roadkill in mine. I’ll just look and enjoy.

I’m safe with my blue and white. If it gets too boring, I’ll throw caution to the winds and add a little beige. I’m better off with colors that can be summed up in one word. Like blue. Not sage-green-gray-dusty-olive.

  4. We just used sea salt in our new home and could not be more in love… It is perfect if you want some color but nothing jarring. Great post!

    1. Hello there – just found your lovely blog and design work after deciding on an Emtek crystal knob for a bathroom door and searching for images of it so I can get a truer sense of the brass finishes. I believe you used this knob (Hampton) on a pantry door of yours from a 12/14 post. Do you happen to know the finish of your rosettes? They look great and I’m guessing they might be the polished brass which looks really bright and yellow on every other site I look at. You wouldn’t happen to remember which finish you ordered would you? Thanks so much!

  5. I painted our master bedroom the Farrow & Ball Green Smoke and it’s one of my fave colors I’ve ever used. So chic and soothing, reads a bit bluish green during the day, and more gray green at night. It’s dramatic but nothing too crazy. Highly recommend!

  6. So lovely Erin! I have my living room painting in Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue…which is more green than blue in certain light! I just love it!

  7. Hi Erin! Love your blog! This is Janet Caldwell of Nest Interior Design out of Las Vegas. I did a teenage girls room last year in f&b’s Green Smoke. Wow, A real show stopper of a colour! Dramatic and moody….just like her! : )

  8. I bought a sample of Green Smoke (F&B) last spring, but alas, it ended up being too dark for the room in which I intended to use it. I am dying to use this fabulous color in a room, though! I did use the sample paint to paint the urns at the bottom of my front door steps and boy did they stand out! Thanks for the other paint color recommendations! Running upstairs to look at Pigeon in my F&B paint chip brochure!! :)
