When working with our clients, we have a key “library” of online retailers we like to source from. Some are very affordable, others a little more expensive, but all offering a wide variety of styles we mix and match to create custom looks for each space we work on. One of our most consistent sources is Williams-Sonoma Home. Higher-end than company siblings Pottery Barn and West Elm, this resource is wonderful for all traditional-meets-modern pieces that will last the test of time (both in style and quality). Their styled spaces online are fantastic for inspiration too. So I was psyched when they asked to partner with me to show off my most favorite selections-from cashmere throws to canopy beds! Plus right now they are offering 20% off bedding and bath and a clearance sale with up to 75% off.
When I was finishing up my former master bedroom I really wanted to share how great this little project came out but couldn’t because I had to wait for the book. But now I can! I am no DIY master- that’s just not my thing and it’s important that as a designer, blogger and person I honor my strengths and know my weaknesses (like any projects involving a power drill, sanding or sewing, thirty seven steps or incredible amounts of patience). However, sometimes a budget restriction requires you to get a little bit crafty no matter how DIY-challenged you are. I was DYING to get a fabulous dresser by Redford House for this room. But my renovation and decorating budget was completely busted and so I had to improvise. Enter IKEA, some nice hardware, Andrew and his powder drill!
The result is here- lovely, functional and totally doable!

One of my brothers tagged me in an Instagram picture he took of a visit to Faribault Woolen Mills in Faribault, MN the other day. He suggested I check out the company’s story- and I had to share it with you too. In a time when so many products are made overseas, I love finding small businesses that still craft their goods in America. And Faribault has an interesting story too- founded in 1865 this mill is the last standing vertical mill in the US. Still in the same location, and using many century old machines alongside new technology to craft these gorgeous blankets and throws. In 2009 the mill had to close but in 2011 two local businessmen rescued it, reopened it and since then it’s been a wonderful comeback story! George Clooney ordered blankets for the cast of one of his movies, they were featured on ABC’s World News Tonight and now they’ve landed an amazing deal with another very famous Minnesota company (more on that after the jump…)
Last week I made a pilgrimage down to the Matouk factory in Fall River, MA. Until a couple of years ago I didn’t know that this luxury bedding company was actually based out of Massachusetts! I have clients who have always sworn by the factory store down there for bedding and towels at a discount but had never been myself. So I decided to change that and went down for a little tour of the store, the factory and see the plans for their expansion!
The factory store is small (for now) but CHOCK FULL of awesome finds.

What better way to kick off Monday than FREE STUFF?!?! I love it when nice people have great success and one of those very people happens to be my friend and former studio-mate Jill Rosenwald. Her first bedding collection is our now at Bed, Bath & Beyond and just for you I get to give away a full set plus a decorative pillow of your choice! All the designs are bold and fun and a reflection of patterns Jill’s been painting on her pottery for years. Great for any space- even a teen or kids room!
Check out the whole collection HERE and then leave a comment with which set you want (and what size) AND which decorative pillow. A winner will be picked on Friday and e-mailed directly to set up delivery!
The fun decorative pillows also would be great on a sofa, chair…anywhere!
