Fall Focused.

I am 100% in fall festive mode, you guys. The perfect October weather, pumpkin flavored everything and coziness at home with fires and good food all make me so deliriously happy.  I used to be a summer girl “in my youth” but now I am a full-fledged fall addict.  Perhaps it’s because we all go into nesting mode and home become so much more important as we spend more hours inside it.  I am so happy to have shot my house for the book last week, because now I can just enjoy it instead of seeing every inch as a “to do” project.

Here are some of what’s on my “fall decor” radar:

Topiaries– The perfect long lasting floral alternative- put a matching pair on a console or bar or a grouping in the center of a dining table.

Gorgeous, simple china– I saw this Wedgewood Intaglio china the other day when scouting for something to use on my table for the shoot. I so wish this was my china! The crisp white simplicity is mixed with fab detail work (including my favorite Greek Key!) If I were going to register for china now it would be this. Or this for something more fancy. In fact, I’d love them mixed!

Striped Taper Candles This just takes my stripe addiction on step further.

Copper Kettle– I bought one for the shoot last week and I cannot bring myself to return it. It just looks TOO good on my stove!

Feather Art– Loving these amazing black and white feather prints from Jayson Home.

Pumpkin Bread– This Williams Sonoma mix is a favorite, because we don’t all have time to bake form scratch and it makes the house smell awesome.

Champagne Coupes– I also bought these for the shoot and kept them. They are just TOO darling and elegant and I plan on drinking lots of champagne when this book is done.

Rustic Wood Napkin Rings– They offset pressed linen and delicate china in such a cool, autumnal way.

Boxwood Wreaths– Faux or real, I adore boxwood wreaths.

Banner Art– This cracked me up as PERFECT holiday family gathering decor. Let’s all let it go, and enjoy the season, right?

Pumpkin Masque– OBSESSED with this masque (the whole line really). It stings a little, but works wonders at brightening and exfoliating (and is ALL NATURAL). We all need to look our best for the holiday season!

Black Forest Candle– The stylist that helped us on the shoot brought this candle to the shoot and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  It’s like the most elegant, non-cloying holiday scent ever. Plus the black container is subtle, dramatic and chic.

Marble and Wood Cutting Board– Awesome if you crave Carrera counters but don’t have them.  And gorgeous even if you do! I love the juxtaposition of stone and wood. Fabulous to serve cheeses on too.

Patio Perfection!

As summer and my patio project draw to a close I am craving the opportunity to throw an al fresco dinner party. And after seeing Domaine’s spread featuring Nicole Richie’s outdoor space all dressed up for an evening of food, drinks and friends my desire quadrupled!!

I absolutely LOVE the blues and greens in this bouquet!!!

Gold flatware simple HAS to happen for me. Has to.

An Inspired Garden Party Table

Once I actually decide on dining chairs (still haven’t, time is TICKING) I plan on entertaining a lot more than I have.  And since my patio renovation is about to break ground (YAY) I may actually be having dinner parties outside sooner than inside!  I love eating outside- I don’t care as much what the food is as long as the ambiance is great and there is a cool summer breeze.  When I saw this image from Aerin Lauder I felt totally inspired to set a table:

I love the colors and the mix of fancy and casual elements on the table.  And then I went in search of other green and blue inspired tables…

And here’s my table design inspired by Aerin’s spring table…..

1. William Yeoward Claire crystal (my mom has this and it’s SO gorgeous) 2. Wisteria vases 3. White tulip bouquets 4. Haviland’s Jardin Francaise china 5. bamboo flatware (cheaper version HERE) 6. Linen monogrammed napkin 7. Centerpiece brass accents 8. Woven charger 9. Juliska bamboo china (mix in with the above) 10. Ikat fabric (have a seamstress whip you up a tablecloth!)

Party Down

While I still have a few more days until I am officially 30, Friday night we had a party that celebrated my next decade of life. The pink and orange theme made for a festive, warm look that I think came out really lovely. I went to the flower market and grabbed bunches of single variety flowers in the colors I chose and used various vases I had collected over the years wrapped in print wrapping paper from Paper Source and wide hot pink ribbon (a really easy and cheap way to dress up a basic vase!)

The lanterns I had purchased were supposed to be hung outside on the patio in the trees but alas, mother nature was temperamental that night and it rained (which lead me to almost start my own chorus of “it’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to…) But with some ribbon, a helpful pal and hubby and a little creative thinking- we found a way to use them!

More flowers, and FAB votives from Luna Bazaar in ikat and bamboo trellis!

In the kitchen I used paper flowers from Luna Bazaar over the bar table and of course, had to but fun paper goods in matching schemes (love, LOVE the zebra napkins)

Wait, what is that on her cake, you ask? Amazingly enough, it’s the zipper front Jimmy Choo shoe that I blogged about a month or two ago! And hilariously enough I had chosen to wear my BCBG knock offs of that exact shoe that night! Karen at Babycakes made the cake for me, and now I KNOW she’s a true blog fan! What attention to detail!!!! I loved it! (And yes, my nickname, thanks to Andrew, is Frog. Long story…)

(guess I should have made time for pedicure)

Other signs people read your blog- when your presents arrive wrapped in the party theme colors! :)

Andrew gave a WONDERFUL toast that both made me laugh and cry…

I think everyone had a great time (I know I did, I was still recovering even yesterday)

You know I had to bust out some 30’s bling with a age appropriate tiara (with the lovely Audra of Looc and longtime friend Elyse)

I wore a fantastically comfortable Rebecca Taylor dress that I love (did not take a pic of the ensemble, but this shows the most of it…) The dress even has pockets (which every girl can appreciate) and will look cute belted with a cardigan come fall!

I don’t think I ever showed you my new West Elm rug…adds a graphic element to the living room…and the patio where the party was SUPPOSED to be (damn you New England weather)

My boys were SO well behaved.

But at one point Oliver needed a time out and was caught by a guest hiding amongst some pillows…they think it was because I emasculated him with a pink ribbon collar. :)

Tonight I celebrate AGAIN with Andrew at the Coldplay concert (third time this year, I think I may have a problem) and then again on my REAL birthday later this week. Thanks to Andrew and everyone who has already made this a great birthday! What a lucky gal….
