I haven’t been reading Architectural Digest that much recently as I felt it really wasn’t showcasing homes that intrigued me that much- too over the top, to fancy, too….MUCH. But this current issue has one giant spread on this family “compound” in Maine that just blew me away. Not only is it decorated by Suzanne Kasler, a favorite of mine, but in copious amounts of blue and white and the kind of traditional style that appeals to me so very much. In other words, while it’s still over the top (I mean, the pool house kitchen is nicer than 99% of real kitchens) it’s done so beautifully and so “family feeling” one can’t help but gawk, in a good way. THIS is good style in my book.
I love the patterned drapes in this family room mixed with the graphic rug.

The second I saw the cover of the new Traditional Home I fell in love with this space design by Cynthia Hayes – a modern beach house living room with a great mix of textures and materials.
Last week Domaine featured a little tour of actress and model Brooklyn Decker’s Austin home with husband Andy Roddick. I’ve been a fan of Brooklyn for a while (she once tweeted me that she was psyched to see herself on one of my Fashion Friday blogs and I about died). Her sense of humor is just awesome and that “life should be fun” approach certainly shines through in her home. She’s a big fan of interior design and took this project on all by herself and I’d venture a guess that she’ll keep her toes dipped in the waters of design for a while after seeing the results! You can read the article and see more pics here– but I shared my favorites along with a Q&A I did with Brooklyn and some suggestions on how to get her look:
Her kitchen is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Between the beams, the blue cabinetry, the gasp-worthy marble and all that brass (specifically check out the sink- looks like one of these-be still my heart.)
You may have read about Paradise Cover in the New York Times or Coastal Living- but for those who don’t know about it it’s America’s fanciest mobile home park located right on the beach in Malibu, CA. And when I say fancy, I mean mobile homes that go for $2 million. Yes, for real.
I came across this space there, which is a small trailer that serves as a guest house for someone obviously fabulous. Designed by Kirsten Marie this bright, bohemian retreat is seriously amazing.
I was at CVS the other day and spotted this cover of Country Living and had to pick it up because that room? Hello, totally right up my alley. Country Living isn’t a mag I subscribe to, but now that I’m using Texture, I’m going to be looking at it every month! There were some great things in this issue, but mostly this house! It’s like Chip & Joanna Gaines total dream home. :) I think Fixer Upper has turned us all into a bit of a country fan, no?
I die for those beams and the overall warm scheme- the layered rugs, the giant basket (which I FOUND- see my “get the look” board below) and the abundance of white, which makes everything feel so warm and lived in.
