Someone posted on my blog or Instagram the other day asking what I REALLY wore during the messy, dreary, cold months of winter. I laughed, because I had just been scrolling Insta looking at some fashion bloggers frolicking around outside during the “bomb-cyclone” winter storm we had– in heeled boots and SKIRTS. Now, I love looking at unrealistic and inspirational images as much as the next gal, but when it comes down to real life, I try to look as pulled together as possible but while also being comfy and warm with dry feet. So here are some looks that I wear during winter when spending the day with Henry or going to a meeting!
I wear jeans 99.9% of the time. To the office, to meetings, out to dinner. When I’m in mom-mode I want to be comfy and able to play int he snow with my little guy. Every year for the past couple years I’ve bought myself a timeless investment piece as my “Chirstmas bonus” to myself– last year it was my watch, this year it was a Moncler puffer coat. It was stupid expensive, but when I saw it it was the perfect color, last one in my size and I just DID IT. And you know what? Best money I’ve spent in a while! I wear it constantly and it is SO light and so friggin’ warm. That said, this Uniqlo version below is SO great too (plus $99 on sale!) Paired with my fave cashmere tee, the BEST jeans for boots (slim enough at ankle to tuck right into boots and warm but cute boots I can move and am comfy but don’t look like a hot mess!

As I’ve mentioned before, I am WAY too into this whole Prince Harry/ Meghan Markle situation. And you’d better believe that since the day they announced their engagement, I’ve been pondering THE DRESS. So many questions surround this preeminent garment– Who will design it? American or British? What will it look like? Will there be sleeves? A fairytale princess skirt? GAHHHHHH!
So, if I were a betting woman, here’s what I would slap my chips down on:
-It will be a British designer (my bet: Jenny Packham– whom the Duchess loves and has a Hollywood quality to her gowns, or Emilia Wickstead)
-It will NOT be a big ballroom skirt but rather something more mermaid-y but with a long train.
-There will be sheer elements to the gown, (somewhat like her dress from the engagement portraits).
-It will have long sleeves, but in a glam way not a matronly way. She will have to have her shoulders covered in church, so I think the tight long sleeves will comply with that rule in a sexy way.
I think something like this Oscar de la Renta— but with a lined skirt and a little less flowery perhaps?
As I mentioned in a previous post, I am all sorts of jazzed about this whole Meghan-Markle-as-Princess situation. I think she is a lovely woman, with smarts and humor and a drive to be more than just a pretty face. The kind ofgal we need more of the spotlight, right? Not to mention she has great style. And while I love me some Kate Middleton, I think Meghan is going to bring a slightly more youthful and fun look to Royal fashion. It’ll be interesting to see how she blends the propriety needed to be a public Royal figure with her own keen LA bred fashion sense!

Yup, it’s coming. Very soon. Which means it’s time to start keeping your eyes peeled for holiday outfits– specifically dresses! The girls in my office suggested the topic for today’s post- so I rounded up dresses both fancy and casual (plus a couple skirts and jumpsuit) to help you find some options fast so you can spend your time on gift shopping and party prepping!
