ACK-spirational Living: Hawthorne Park

Nantucket happens to be one of my favorite places in the world. I always refer to it as Disneyland for adults–it’s almost too perfect and cute to be real.  The design inspiration I pull from the island and the insanely gorgeous homes, new and old, that populate the island.  Today I get to share with you a GORGEOUS new development of homes on the island that I am pretty obsessed with (mark this down as LIFE GOALS, y’all).

Hawthorne Park is a one of a kind project of 17 homes set around a private three acre park, improved with walking paths, sitting areas, and fabulous common amenities including a gym, pool, spa and yoga deck. Four different home types (Barn, Cottage, Farmhouse, Homestead– see more below for illustrations) and architectural landscaping were informed by a Malibu surf meets Nantucket farm inspiration. The goal behind the project was not to deliver just another set of homes but rather to capture and accentuate a lifestyle. I think they were very successful in meeting that goal!

This is a design collaboration between Blue Flag Development & Award-Winning Architect Workshop/APD. Blue Flag Development has a reputation for building high-caliber homes with an intense focus on all of the design details.  Their past projects (Tidewater Cottages & Union Lights) showcase their thoughtful work.

This development is out towards the highly desirable area of Cisco on Nantucket.  Easy access to town or the brewery, Bartlett’s Farm, Miacomet golf course and some of the best beaches on the island.  There are 17 homes available and 3 have already been purchased.

The development is being listed by Jennifer Shalley & Erin Wilson at Fisher Real Estate on the island.  More information can be found on the site HERE (or please email them directly with questions: jen@FisherNantucket.com & erin@fishernantucket.com)

Introducing West Elm Baby + Kids!

Busy mom shopping West Elm’s new collection— until Henry hijacked my laptop!

The day after Mother’s Day seems like an appropriate time to share the news that West Elm has introduced a baby and kids line in collaboration with Pottery Barn Kids!  I love the modern take they have on kids decor, which includes cribs, changers, art, wallpaper (removable!) and bedding– among other things.  And the prices are great (a gorgeous crib for $399 can’t be beat!).  I’m finishing up my second book which focuses on designing a home for the whole family that everyone can enjoy, be proud of and live in comfortably.  Kids furniture with great style is a huge part of creating a home that looks gorgeous but also functions well for a busy family.  These pieces are a great example of how to accomplish both of those goals!

I pulled some items for a darling girls nursery– blush and grey but with fun modern touches.  The removable wallpaper would go on the crib wall and acts as art without nervously hanging a framed piece above the crib.

Using Fabric & Grasscloth Wrapped Furniture

When considering furniture for our design projects (and for my own home), I love to include grasscloth or linen wrapped pieces whenever possible. Beyond the obvious fact that they bring texture to a space, these materials also help to elevate a design by mixing so beautifully with other finishes such a wood, lacquer and stone. For example, I was struggling with what finish to choose for my bedroom dresser when I had already selected a wood bed and white lacquer side tables, and natural grasscloth was the perfect fit as it blends well but also avoids it looking like a “set” of furniture.

Fashion Friday: Spring Joules Discount Code!

On Henry: Sweatshirt (omg, so cozy) // raincoat (similar) // jeans // sneakers

I’m psyched to partner with Joules on todays post not only because I love their clothes for our whole family, but also because they are giving my readers  20% off their purchase with code EOS2018 ! Can we say Happy Friday??  I am always impressed with the quality of Joules clothing- I’d venture to say it’s the most well made children’s clothing out there.  Henry wears clothes HARD, and these last a long time.

I picked my current faves for everyone in the family below and hope it helps you find something fab!

FASHION FRIDAY: SEEKING SPRING WITH HALSBROOK

I am so over the cold. Have I said that too many times on a Friday Fashion post? Maybe it’s because I want to light every sweater and pair of boots in my closet ON FIRE right now. I’m so sick of everything. I’m actually pondering doing a cut throat closet clean-out (like, a Marie Kondo-on-steriods kind of edit) before springtime and either having a big tag sale at my office to raise money for charity or something. What do you guys think?

Anyways, even though I know I wouldn’t be able to wear a lot of this until spring, I partnered with longtime EOS supporter Halsbrook for a post today in which I styled five springtime outfits that would make me very happy to wear.  Classic, Audrey-Meets-Jackie- Meets-Kate Middleton kind of outfits, which is what I think if when I think of Halsbrook.  Plus they are currently having their Friends & Family sale so everything is 20% off (except for those notated with a * which are part of their Essentials Collection)! So if you live in warmer climates, congrats to you for being smarter than me, and you can probably rock these right now!  For those of us suffering in our dirty puffy coats and Uggs— there is hope. There is always hope.
