My New Living Room Plan + The New Traditionalists

Our renovation is moving along nicely (I cannot wait- this room is going to change our lives!)  Along with the new space, I’m changing some things in the living room since we won’t need a sectional anymore (tv going into the new room which THRILLS me because now you won’t see a TV above a fireplace right when you walk into the house- a total pet peeve).  This will be more of a “formal living” space.  Although I use that term loosely because how formal can you be with a toddler running the joint?  While I’m still going to be careful of finishes and fabrics (and sharp edges) I want to make this space feel more grown up and “me”.

While pondering this change, I had decided I needed new side tables regardless.  The modern burl cube tables I had were fab, but I needed something with storage now that I have an ottoman instead of two level coffee table. You know, a spot to keep remotes, magazines and books.  So I worked with the fab peeps at The New Traditionalists (a favorite vendor with amazing traditional-with-an-edge style) to create the perfect new side tables that work great now and will be amazing in my newly decorated space too.

I chose the Side Table No. 7 for its clean lines, lower shelf and large drawer.  I specified the exact size to fit my space.  When it came to finish, I knew I wanted a slightly off white and after seeing their bevy of samples chose China White for the body.  I toyed with grasscloth drawer fronts (you can send COM goods to apply to their pieces) but instead went with their Fine Linen painted finish in Edgecomb Gray with Brown. It looks a lot like grasscloth but is wipeable! Perfect for Henry’s sticky fingerprints that seem to be on everything these days!  The interior of the drawer I had done in a sweet grey-blue (Benjamin Moore Smoke).

I also chose their brass tassel pull (LOVE).  And the details are fabulous. Everything is designed to your specifications in New York and then made and finished in Connecticut.

Creating A Perfect Bed with Crane & Canopy

After a long day, there is nothing more relaxing than getting into a bed with nice, crisp bedding on it. I have come to really appreciate nice bedding, but don’t have the budget for the super fancy stuff (also, I have two dirty dogs who sleep in bed with me). I’ve become a big fan of Crane & Canopy bedding, who is now a sponsor of EOS, for their amazing quality and unique features. As you may recall we redid my guest room with their bedding (see post here) and now I sometimes sleep in the guest room just because the sheets and duvet feel so nice (and also as a mini break from said dirty dogs and big husband hogging the bed).

Fashion Friday: Classic New England Summer Outfits

Last weekend Andrew and I spent a glorious weekend alone at the incredible Wequassett Resort in Chatham on the Cape. Whenever I spend time in the Cape and Islands I am reminded of my love for the classic, preppy-with-a-twist New England way of dressing. It’s so happy and lovely to not see ironic acid washed mom jeans and crop tops everywhere.  I partnered up with Halsbrook, one of my favorite sources for this kind of look, to craft some top to bottom outfits inspired by my Cape weekend- not over the top preppy but rather a comfortable blend of hip and timeless. Think Kate Middleton meets Olivia Palermo.I want ALL of these looks in my closet NOW.

They are also having an awesome summer sale right now- you can score some seriously great stuff!  Get an extra 30% off sale items now with code SUMMER30! Happy shopping (and happy Father’s Day weekend!)

Fabulous Kids Room Finds From Etsy

We’ve been doing a lot of kids rooms and nurseries lately (most of them e-design, actually- it works so well for this type of room) and I have found myself sourcing more and more from Etsy for unique and custom offerings.  I absolutely LOVE finding completely off the radar items for any space in the home, including nurseries and kid spaces.  From antiques to custom bedding, you can really source some incredible stuff with a little legwork.  Or I can share some favorites and make it a little easier for you… :)

Awesome Summer Giveaway with Dear Keaton!

When it comes to brands that become EOS sponsors I am picky. I always want to make sure that the brands I align myself with represent not only my aesthetic taste but also offer products I actually love and would happily use in my own home or for clients.  Dear Keaton has been with us since their inception and today they are celebrating their fist anniversary of being in business!  I am delighted to celebrate with them, as I know as a female small business owner how hard it is and how much work it takes to keep things moving forward!  So I rounded up some of my favorite items from their site, in both neutrals and blues ( my favorite colors) and check the bottom of the post for an AWESOME giveaway sure to make your summer a little better (and boozier)! :)

Their theme of “resort living everyday” works especially well as we move into the summer months!
